Place: The Friars, Ayelsford Priory, Kent, ME20 7BX

Our annual rally for Southwark Altar Servers is on May Day  Bank Holiday Monday 6th May 2024 at The Friars, Aylesford  Priory, Kent. We are pleased Canon Victor Darlington is the principal celebrant, and you are invited to concelebrate.

As usual servers will be enrolled into the Guild of St Stephen and those already in the Guild may renew their promises. Should you wish any of your servers to be presented with a long service award, such as the silver medal for ten years’ service, please email name/s by the end of April.

The annual rally gives the servers a great opportunity to collectively acknowledge and celebrate their special Ministry of Service in the Church. Furthermore, the
gathering encourages servers to socialise with other servers and share and renew their faith, so helping to build God’s kingdom. If you have not attended the rally before, please take the time to ‘Come and See’. We look forward to welcoming you, your servers, families, and friends, at The Friars and hope you will have an enjoyable day. Saint Stephen, Christ’s dear martyr, pray for us.

Pondering and Praying Vatican II Book launch

Date: Wednesday 6th March @ 6pm.
Place: Amigo Hall, St. George’s Cathedral.

Have you heard about Vatican II, and want to know more, but are not sure where or how to begin? Then this little introduction is for you. It will help you start a journey of discovery by pondering and praying some essential themes. Please do not be daunted. This resource requires no previous or specialist knowledge. It has been written for easy access to what the Church said at Vatican II, and what this means for our life of faith in the Body of Christ.

Although many people have heard of Vatican II, few have actually read or considered the documents, not even the four key Constitutions. This resource offers an introduction to these main texts and their themes.

Hopefully, Pondering and Praying Vatican II will encourage more people to read the full documents for themselves. Significantly, it will help readers ask themselves what the teaching of the Second Vatican Council might mean for them and how they might pray in light of it. Anyone can begin these reflections and see where the journey leads.

If you have any images or stories that you would like to share with us on any topic regarding racial and cultural inclusion for the newsletter, please get in touch – it would be great to hear from you evse@rcaos.org.uk.
