The Catholic Faith

Carlo Acutis to be Canonised by the church

The Pope has cleared the way for Blessed Carlo Acutis to be canonised as a Saint. He will become the first Millenial Saint for the young generation of Catholics and non-Catholics. It is hoped that his life story will give hope and inspiriation to others to discern their faith and ignite their belief in God.

Carlo lived his short life with passion and vigour for the Blessed Eucharist. He was clever with information technology and taught himself programming to create a website to put together an exhibition of Eucharistic miracles that has gone on to be displayed at thousands of parishes on five continents. His spiritual director has attested that Carlo was personally convinced that the scientific evidence from Eucharistic miracles would help people to realize that Jesus is really present in the Eucharist and come back to Mass.

Carlo died at the age of 15 of leukaemia. For someone who lived such a short life, Carlo has achieved more than some people in a lifetime. Read more about Carlo’s life Venerable Carlo Acutis and his love for the Eucharist | Catholic News Agency or watch the video.

Vote for Both Lives

General Election update – Both Lives Pledge

In the next parliament there is likely going to be a push to introduce an extreme abortion law. The Both Lives Pledge outlines three policy changes that are designed to increase protection for babies in the womb
and stop pregnancy discrimination for women – policies that will save lives by protecting and supporting both mother and child. MP candidates are being asked to pledge their support to:

1. Stop discrimination against baby girls by supporting a law change to clarify that sex-selective abortion is illegal.

2. Bring our law closer to the laws in the majority of EU countries by lowering the gestational time limit for abortion.

3. Support women in the workplace by backing policies designed to stop pregnancy and maternity discrimination.

Polling shows all three of these policies are strongly supported by the general population.

Find out where your MP candidates stand on abortion and ask them to sign the Both Lives Pledge. It only takes 30 seconds using the easy-to-use tool at  www.righttolife.org.uk/bothlives

You may also find the ‘Where do they stand?’ section of our website useful, which is a helpful resource for constituents: righttolife.org.uk/votes. The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales has also produced an election resource, which you can find here.
